The driver currently being supplied by Verifone for the 1000se USB pinpad does not work properly. In order to use the pinpad with Atrex, a modified version of the older driver which uses the Windows virtual serial port drivers is needed.
Before proceeding, download the driver from
http://www.atrex.com/downloads/Verifone1000SEDriver.zip, and unzip the driver to a folder on your hard drive.
The following are instructions on how
to install the Verifone 1000SE USB Driver.
Installing into Windows 7
-
Plug the pinpad into a empty USB
connection.

Click on the Windows Start
button.
-
Right-Click “Computer” and
select “Manage”.
-
Select “Device Manager” from
the popup menu.
-
You should see the “PINpad
1000SE” as an entry under “Other Devices”. If you do not see
this entry, look for “Qx_PP1000 USB UART Device” under “Ports
(COM & LPT)”
-
Right-click on whichever entry you
found in step 3 and select Update Driver Software.
-
When prompted for the driver
location, click the option that says “Select Browse my computer
for driver software”.
-
Select “Let me pick from a list
of devices on my computer”.
-
Click “Show all Devices”.
-
Click Next.
-
Click Have Disk.
-
Click Browse.
-
Select the folder that you copied
the driver file to and select the verifone_PP1000SE usb-uart.inf
file.
-
Select Open.
-
Select OK.
-
Select Next.
-
A warning will be displayed that
indicates that Windows can't verify the publisher of the driver.
Select “Install this driver software anyway”.
-
Windows will indicate that the
driver has been installed. Select Close.
-
The pinpad should then move and be
listed under the “Ports (COM & LPT)” section as “PP1000se”.

Make note of the COM port that was
assigned to the pinpad and use this value to configure Atrex for
communication with the Pin Pad.
Installing into Windows XP
-
Plug the pinpad into a empty USB
connection.

When the new hardware wizard
window is displayed, click the cancel button.
-
Click on the Windows Start
button.
-
Select “Settings” and then
“Control Panel” from the start menu.
-
Double click on “System”,
select the “Hardware” tab, and then click on the “Device
Manager” button.
-
You should see the “PINpad
1000SE” as an entry under “Other Devices”. If you do not see
this entry, look for “Qx_PP1000 USB UART Device” under “Ports
(COM & LPT)”

Right-click on whichever entry you
found in step 6 and select Update Driver Software.

When prompted by the Hardware
Update Wizard, select “No, not this time” from the options and
click the next button.
-
Select “Install from a list or
specific location” and click the next button.
-
Select the “Search for the best
driver in these locations” option.
-
Check the “Include the location
in this search” option and click the “Browse” button.
-
Select the folder that you copied
the driver file to. This folder should contain the
verifone_PP1000SE usb-uart.inf file.
-
Click OK.
-
Windows will indicate that the
driver has been installed. Click Close.
-
The pinpad should then move and be
listed under the “Ports (COM & LPT)” section as “PP1000se”.
-
Make note of the COM port that was
assigned to the Pin Pad and use this value to configure Atrex for
communication with the Pin Pad.
