No Pennies? No Problem!

With the United States no longer minting new pennies, many retailers are having trouble obtaining sufficient pennies to provide change and are rounding cash transactions to the nearest available denomination (typically $0.05). To support this change, Atrex includes a Cash Rounding feature that ensures cash-only transactions are handled accurately and consistently.

How to Enable Cash Rounding

  1. From the main window, select "Options - Company Information / Customization - Company Information and Settings".
  2. Select the Defaults tab.
  3. Locate the Round Cash option.
  4. Set the drop-down value to Rounded and then choose the rounding increment you want to apply (for example, $0.05).
  5. Click the OK button to save your changes.
Once enabled, the setting takes effect immediately for new cash transactions. 

When Cash Rounding Applies

Cash rounding is only applied when all of the following are true:
  • Cash rounding is enabled in Company Settings
  • The transaction is paid entirely in cash
  • The transaction total includes a value that requires rounding based on your selected increment
