Customer Group

Is there a way to group or identify customers as type ? For example, if I want to create a group for VIP customers with special treatment, I did not find anything that would allow me to do so.

On the Customer menu you will find Category Maintenance that allows you to create categories and assign customers to those categories.
If there is pricing differences associated, you may also want to investigate price categories (Options - Company Setup/Customization - Lookup Selection - Price Categories).  Once created, you can assign customers to various price categories as well.
