SMTP Settings

In order to configure Atrex to communicate with your email server, you will need to obtain the connection information from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or network administrator.  This is the same information that you would need to set up other email software such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Email, or Outlook.

When entering the "From" email and name into Atrex, please be aware that some email services such as Gmail, may use the account information from the SMTP values rather than what you have entered into Atrex for the reply to email address and name.

Many email services are now requiring secure connections using TLS 1.2.  As support for TLS 1.2 was added in Atrex 16, the settings listed below may not work for Atrex 15 and older.

Server settings for some common email services are:

Yahoo
    SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    SMTP Port: 465
    TLS Mode: Automatic
Authentication is required along with outgoing email account and password.

Please note you are required to change the security settings for your Yahoo account to enable the "Allow apps that use less secure sign in" option in order for Atrex to be able to connect to the server.

Hotmail
    SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
    SMTP Port: 587
    TLS Mode: Explicit
Authentication is required along with outgoing email account and password.

Gmail using SSL
    SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
    SMTP Port: 465
    TLS Mode: Automatic
Authentication is required along with outgoing email account and password.

Please note that using 2 factor authentication and an application specific password is now required by Gmail for most accounts.
